Boussole — Terms of Service
1.1 Acceptance of These Terms
Welcome to Boussole.
By downloading, accessing, or using Boussole, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and by our Privacy Policy. Please read them carefully before using the app.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use Boussole.
1.2 About Boussole
Boussole is a mobile application that helps you curate and make sense of the content you care about. You save sources — such as links, posts, articles, and personal notes — and Boussole enriches them, evaluates how they relate to your interests, and delivers a personalized daily brief.
1.3 Ownership
Boussole is owned and operated by Emotion Studio, Inc., a corporation registered in the United States ("Emotion Studio," "we," "us," or "our").
1.4 Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Boussole. By using Boussole, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate and truthful.
1.5 Accounts
To use Boussole, you sign in with your Apple ID (Sign in with Apple). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
You may delete your account at any time using the account-deletion option in the app's Settings. Once deleted, your data will be permanently removed from our systems within the time frame described in our Privacy Policy.
1.6 How the Service Works
When you save a source, Boussole may automatically retrieve and process the associated content (for example, the full text of an article or post) in order to enrich it. Boussole then builds and maintains an evolving model of your interests and uses it to evaluate how each source relates to those interests and to generate a personalized daily brief.
You are responsible for ensuring that you are entitled to access and save any content you submit to Boussole, and that doing so does not violate the rights of any third party or the terms of any third-party service.
1.7 Your Content and License
You retain all rights to the sources, notes, and other content you save in Boussole ("Your Content").
To operate the service, you grant Emotion Studio a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the service — including retrieving associated content, generating enrichments, building your interest model, and producing your daily brief. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except to the extent it has already been processed or where retention is required by law.
1.8 AI-Generated Content
Boussole relies on artificial intelligence to enrich sources, assess relevance, and compose your daily briefs. AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and may misrepresent the underlying source. It is provided for informational and convenience purposes only and does not constitute professional, legal, financial, medical, or other advice.
You are responsible for independently verifying any information before relying on it. Emotion Studio does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any AI-generated content.
1.9 Third-Party Content and Services
Boussole processes and links to content from third-party sources that we do not own or control. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, legality, or content of any third-party material, and inclusion of a source in Boussole does not imply endorsement.
Your use of third-party services accessed through Boussole is governed by those services' own terms and policies.
1.10 Acceptable Use
You agree to use Boussole only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others. You specifically agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose or to save, store, or distribute unlawful content;
- Attempt to hack, decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the app or its underlying services;
- Use bots, scrapers, or other automated systems to interact with Boussole, except as expressly permitted;
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security-related features or rate limits;
- Overload, disrupt, or impair the app or the servers and networks that support it;
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
- Use Boussole to infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of any third party.
1.11 Subscriptions and Paid Features
Boussole is currently free to use. We may introduce paid features or subscriptions in the future. If we do, any such purchases will be processed through Apple's App Store and subject to Apple's terms, and we will make the applicable pricing and terms available before purchase.
1.12 Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of Boussole — including text, graphics, logos, designs, and software, but excluding Your Content — are the exclusive property of Emotion Studio, Inc. and are protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other laws.
You may not copy, modify, reproduce, or distribute any part of Boussole without prior written permission from Emotion Studio, Inc.
1.13 Termination
Emotion Studio reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to Boussole if:
- You violate these Terms;
- You engage in abusive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; or
- Your use harms other users, third parties, or the platform.
Upon termination, your right to use Boussole ceases immediately. You may also stop using Boussole and delete your account at any time.
1.14 Disclaimers
Boussole is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Emotion Studio makes no warranties, express or implied, about the reliability, accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose of the app or its content.
We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of Boussole at any time without prior notice.
1.15 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Emotion Studio, Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app — including data loss, reliance on AI-generated content, or service interruption.
1.16 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The most recent version will always be available within the app, and the effective date at the top will indicate when it was last revised. If we make material changes, we may notify you via email or an in-app message. Your continued use of Boussole after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
1.17 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
